Internal conflict between officers and stewards erodes the foundation for the vision of a highly functioning local.  We will establish an internal resolution department (IRD) to help local leadership and members overcome their differences and heal open wounds. Many of us assist bargaining unit employees (BUE’s) through the alternate dispute resolution (ADR) program for the VA but most of us fail when applying the techniques internally within the Union.

 

Once stood up, VA locals will be able to contact the IRD to get advice on how to deal with interpersonal matters hindering their ability to maximize their locals potential.  In conjunction with AFGE’s conflict resolution program, the IRD will provide mediation services to VA locals who need it.  A local with a healthy relationship amongst their Executive Board can overcome any endeavour they put their minds to.
