HIRE NVAC EEO ATTORNEYS

The achilles heel for 99% of VA locals are EEO cases.  At the  AFGE Convention this past July 2022, the federation did not receive a per capita tax increase to hire more attorneys to help us go toe to toe with the VA attorneys on EEO cases. The current NVAC attorneys not only move mountains and redirect streams, they also move volcanoes and redirect lava but they cannot provide all the help the VA locals need especially with EEO representation.

 

We will invest heavily in EEO education for our seasoned NVAC leaders who is, or are about to retire.  Within the next year, each VA local has at least one member who is retiring whom I will personally speak to and compel them into learning and applying EEO basics, intermediate and advanced knowledge within the local.  The retiree will work alongside Union leaders and representatives in learning and applying the knowledge gained through the Women and Fair Practice (WFP) equalizer training.

Hiring one or two additional attorneys who only specializes in EEO representation will significantly assist VA locals in their efforts when representing our members  (BUE’s) in EEO cases.  Our EEO attorneys will work alongside WFP to provide representation, education and training for VA locals, strengthening our ability to represent our members in EEO cases.
