At the NVAC convention this past July 2022, it came to light on the convention floor that VA locals were wrongfully put into trusteeship because of political gains by their District National Vice Presidents (NVP’s).  An increased attack was waged against VA local leaders who attempted to stand up to fight a fight brought to their doorsteps.

 

I vow as the next NVAC president to bring resolutions to the floor to amend the National Constitution whereas, before any VA locals are  put into trusteeship that it be first voted on by the NVAC council.  In the interim, if any VA local is wrongfully put into trusteeship under my leadership I will contact the National President of AFGE to have it expeditiously investigated and overturned. If myself and the National President cannot have a meeting of the mind on your innocence, I will not stop advocating until your local is made whole.

 

As local leaders we not only put our career on the line but the livelihood of our families.  As local leaders and stewards of the local we too should be treated with dignity, fairness and respect.  If there is an attack on one of our innocent, then that is an attack on all of us.  In the words of MLK, “an injustice anywhere, is an injustice everywhere” and is one I will not stand for as the NVAC President.
